Water-LockedLAWL, random story. Here we go. I came up with the idea and just had to torture y'all with this. <3




Water-Locked
P r o l o g u e
I can see nothing but endless blue from where I sit. When I look down, I see the side of the cliff, worn away into whorls and designs by the heaving waters that thrash the shoreline. The waves recede, tipped with white foam, but I know they will come back with a mighty roar as they leap from the ocean to weather the cliffs even more. I often ask mother if they will reach up over the deterring gray flood barriers and swamp the city in a cascade of gray water. Mother always says no.
But I think I know better. Far away, off to the distance, there are clouds edged with sunlight. Despite their golden glow, I can see their gray base as they hover threateningly over our island. Will they dump rain, causing the ocean to roil and leap over the floodgates? It is a question I long to ask, but I keep silent out of fear that my question
